Crimea and the black sea fleet are the very reason the conflict started in 2014. Ukraine is lucky Putin didn't invade like he is doing now, it gave them 8 years to prepare for the next round which is why they can resist.
However it's only what, day 5? They haven't thrown in their full force even and now everyone seem to think this is it for Russia, they're beaten which is incredibly shortsighted.
It's way too early to suggest they've lost and Putin giving up Crimea aint gonna happen. It's going to be all out war before that happens.
It isn't that we are not correct.

Because if we are it means they have been fooled.
People have a massive aversion to being fooled.
So much that they would rather not know the truth, than admit to being fooled.
This phenomenon is known as Cognitive Dissonance.
