You mean department protocol for retiring old tech?
What she did was clearly illegal, and her explanation for not recognizing "C" as classified on a private email server, a claim she made to the FBI in an interview, defies any sort of plausibility. A career politician and State Department head thought "C" was alphabetical? Where were the As, Bs, and Ds?
None of this was an issue, though, because the FBI didn't want to get on the wrong side of their future boss. And when they interviewed her, they gave her the proper decorum of lawyers in the room, and they failed to maintain possession of the relevant material.
I don't think a reasonable person can look at that and not understand what happened and why. Perhaps the FBI is criminally incompetent and we need to fire half of upper management, or perhaps workplace politics happens everywhere, and Federal departments aren't immune simply because they're Federal departments. Why we expect federal agents to be morally superior to the politicians they work for is beyond me.
On topic, I'm glad the Supreme Court continues to function as the only remaining august institution in the republic. We were told by breathless Democrats and media alike that highly intelligent, highly qualified jurists with guaranteed career life expectancy were suddenly going to morph into Trump apologists once seated. The best Thomas could do was to say maybe we should wait to hear their arguments in Court.
