One year ago I could fill my truck for $64. Last week I gave the kid $100 and was a few gallons short.
For the first time since I have been with my company, we have not had $5/lb rib roasts for the holidays. My meat department can’t even have any sales on anything but chicken really. Dollar off some weeks on beef, last week was $2 off chuck steaks. Peppers in my produce are almost $2 each. A sale on them is 3/5. Bag of potato’s is $5. Fucking pork shoulder is $4/lb, last year was $2.29.
I am embarrassed to have people pay the prices they do just so they don’t have to get Walmart produce and meat (the only other option here).
But inflation is a sign of a healthy economy according to the White House. Oh, and your house is worth more money, so shut up.
It would be hilarious if it weren’t so sad.
Inflation is good compared to deflation. We have had a very long period of essentially no inflation which is unusual. I agree with house prices, I don't want my house to keep going up in value, my property tax bill went up 25% last year and don't want to see what it is this year.
