American culture should be viewed as being able to live however you choose (having the opportunity to better yourself financially should be implied, but ya know). Basically anywhere you find satisfaction, you can center your life around that.

Unfortunately, many choose to focus only on negative outcomes and therefore American culture is generally thought of as a fucking joke.

Speaking of in the closet, next time you leave your house are you planning on sharing any of these sentiments you have with any other humans or are you going to keep all this to yourself and your keyboard?
