In this case the courts have already ruled on it. You're allowed to flip off police officers and there are no loitering laws so they have no right to pull them over.
I can't speak to how this particular court did or did not correctly apply justice - but all I'm saying is that ideally, this is how I like the system to be run:
Competent officers who exist within an acceptable bounds of corruption - maybe a little drug selling on the side, a little extortion here and there (we know its going to happen and that's just the reality of being human.) - but who are generally good and decent people who accomplish far more for society than they tarnish.
Then have a robust court process to deal with the most corrupt and contemptable officers who have stepped way beyond the bounds of what I think is acceptable.
