I am personally against seatbelts being mandatory. And it has nothing to do with whether they save lives or not. I believe they do, however, if some people do not value their lives, they should be able to endanger themselves however they wish.

The government governs too much.

Because it's them or us. The Chinese are an existential threat to democratic governments. We should do everything in our power to inflict maximum harm on their government or their people. I really hope this day doesn't come, but I would not hesitate to support a preemptive nuclear strike where we eviscerate hundreds of millions if that's what's necessary to survive.
