They will be able to change desert landscape into nutrient rich soil for food and vegetation to grow. They want to plant massive amounts of trees in the Sahara already and it's been said that it would reduce the world's emissions by 15-33% over a century. Middle eastern countries would have to convert salt water into drinkable water which is what israel is already doing etc. I'm sure they could use that water for vegetation as well.
