To me, this is a national security issue. We should have SOME manufacturing here that isn't dependent on countries so close to China.
Fair point but the government should then take a cut or expect cheaper products to domestic markets versus globally, but we know that won't happen.
Just as a side note. Energy is also of national security and we see how this administration has really been fumbling in this sphere. In their desire to appease the left, they killed off supply i.e. keystone stoppage, heightened regulations, proposed various types of carbon taxes, and so on.
Now we see how one event is impacting one part of the country and in reality with gas shortages, these moves hurt the lower and middle classes exponentially more versus the rich.
To me, it's these industries that need the most help or subsidy to become cleaner or whatever, not the industry that has been the dominant winner for the last 10 years.

Do some actual research and see what all this affects mate. Alot of those companies have been losing profits also but so have others including the auto industry and its affecting the world.
Its something that needs to be done
I've done the research, they are losing profits but they are still making tens of billions of dollars per year. It's not the taxpayers role to come in and pay just so Apple can maximize their profits.
All of these companies have double-digit margins and stock prices that are up like 300% in the last 5 years. Enlighten me on what research you've done that you think these companies shouldn't be responsible for putting their money to solve this when they are the main beneficiaries.
It is their responsibility to source inputs for their products and be responsible enough to make long-term investments to secure the supply chain.
