If I point out that democrats fought for slavery in the 1860s, I am told that OBVIOUSLY views have changed since then and we cannot be held to something from the past.

If I point out that the Bible says something incongruent with modern thinking, then I am told OBVIOUSLY religion is evil and so are all christians.

If christians are going to be held accountable for things in their past, then we might as well hold democrats accountable for slavery. Fair is fair.

Or, we can be adults and just move on.

the "democrats" back then were conservatives. that meme is as silly as when modern republicans take credit for Abe freeing the slaves, or call their party the party of Lincoln.

i live 10 miles from the foundation of the republican party, and every year thousands of rednecks come to take a pic in front of the building that they would have wanted burned to the ground if they were alive in 1860.

if you are conservative today you'd be conservative in 1860, and you'd be a democrat. the latter is happenstance.

That's bullcrap and you know it. There are plenty of democrats alive today that held racist beliefs in line with the democrat confederacy in the 1860s.

in 1860 the democrats represented conservatives, and republicans represented liberals.

you dont think ending the institution of slavery was a liberal idea?

think for 2 seconds, when liberals in 2021 suggest radically liberal ideas, like taking away guns, conservatives say "you want another civil war?".

in 1860 it was the same, and it did cause a civil war.

This is a traditional relationship.

The most accurate description is that the man and women belong to each other after marriage, its not necessarily a servile relationship. Men traditionally are bread winners, and if the women doesn't respect the man's vision of the relationship, the man won't feel a need to work to maintain it because men thrive on respect.

Our culture is on the far opposite side, where women are conditioned to disrespect men.
