I wouldn't say it's USELESS but we definitely need reform. The problem is that we can't even agree what the PROBLEM is.

I think this is going to happen (slowly but surely). The Democrats made some serious reforms in their primary to do the following:
1) Prevent unified insurgents from taking over (don't give all delegates to someone who gained only 30% of the vote)
2) Allow for greater representation within the party (if someone gets 30% of the vote, they should get roughly 30% of the delegates)
Obviously, the above won't work particularly well if the party isn't unified and you end up with a contested convention. With ranked choice being tried throughout the country, I think we're going to reach a point where it's used everywhere in the next couple decades.
