There are plenty of social media outlets to choose from, and others will let him use more key strokes.

It is applicable, and you're argument is more like comparing menus between restaurants, and is very entitled. Twitter doesn't have a monopoly over social media. Trump is cozy with Zuck, who lets him get away with all his excesses. You can even compare social media companies to sports teams and the analogy holds, instead of watching the Bengals just watch the Steelers and be a fag, etc.

The social media giants function as oligopolies that eschew direct competition and maintain their own spaces within the marketplace.

See Parler. Any new "Twitter" is going to have a lot of people who are unhappy with the status quo. Some of them are going to be nuts. The tech giants use that as an excuse to deplatform, which prevents competition from forming.

This is exactly the sort of situation that conservatives and liberals use to agree on, but "owning Trump" has you guys bending over asking for more.

Bullshit lol. American conservatives even 6 years ago were on board the free market bandwagon. The only reason you arent on board with that now is because you're getting told to stop inciting riots.

Thing is virtually every industry is now an oligolopoly. You Probably won't find many liberals who aren't in favor of more strict enforcement of monopoly laws but you're being disingenuous. You don't care about free speech or anti trust laws. You're mad that you're losing, and I know thats true because it only became a problem to you when you started losing.

A somewhat fair assessment, however tech giants werent suing competitors into bankruptcy five years ago. The environment has changed quite a bit.

Tech giants weren't but every other industry was. We live in a world of oligolopies and it was created by Republican deregulation. Now that One area has made it not convenient they want a special exception to that area

There are multiple industries/services that conservatives support (see : defense) that are not free market. A preference for free markets does not mandate that you sign off on NAP and go full libertarian.

As for me, freedom of thought and speech is really the only libertarian tenet that I feel strongly about.

Forcing a company to host speech they dont want to isnt libertarian. Its pretty liberal honestly. Lots of government involvement there.

There are any number of platforms that will host batshit crazy conservative content, and if you dont like it you can make your own. Buying servers and hosting content isnt actually that expensive. So I dont see it as a free speech issue in a constitutional sense. You still get to say what you want in the eay you want but you have never been entitled to a free platform.

I will say it a different way.

We should recognize the importance of a diversity of thought, and take steps in both our public and private lives to ensure that it is promoted, supported, and protected.

If the tech oligopolies want to pursue an ideological agenda, they should be regulated. They are simply too important for civic discourse at present.
