Trump is already defeated, and after the debacle yesterday and today's self-own, Trumpism in the narrow sense is defeated as well. (Right-wing populism will rise again of course.) No need to prop up Dems even more. The principled stance of genuine "NeverTrump conservatives", as opposed to shameless grifters, would have been to urge split-ticket votes for Biden plus downballot Republicans.

But hey, at least you just admitted that even with full control, you do not consider Democrats and their ideas a threat to the nation and its future.

What i do know is that Trump and his cults are destroying this country CURRENTLY.
As an American, i have to do everything i can to protect this country and that is to kick Trump and his people out of the White house.

By allying themselves with the Democrats, they push the party to the right which is why I said they aren't friends to the left. Personally, I think that's a good thing which is why I like the Lincoln Project.

Again: voting for Biden plus down-ballot Republicans would have achieved exactly that, but without empowering Democrats to pursue whichever loony lefty policy they please.

This argument only works if at least one of two very unrealistic assumptions is true: 1.: NeverTrump political figures (politicians/operatives/activists/political journalists) will become part of the Democratic party and actually make it to positions of formal power within the party. 2.: NeverTrumpers command a significant bloc of actual voters who will follow their cues and lead.

Your fearmongering is ridiculous. When the Dems had strong majorities from 2009-2011 they made a small dent with the healthcare issue. When Republicans controlled everything, the most impressive legislative achievement were tax cuts. The loony left has almost no power.

I won't believe Trumpism is dead until HE is dead OR he loses the 2024 primary. But man, that's so long from now and we've already had a wild MONTH.



I don't think they need to be part of the Democratic party officially. Controlling the narrative is quite helpful and it's clear that the wish list on the left wasn't going to happen unless they had like 55 senators and a 40 seat majority in the House.

I agree that very few actual votes will change because of them.

I'll worry about the Democrats in 4 years during next election.
It's no big deal if the Democrats won. There were plenty of great Democratic presidents in American history. We have to keep our heads up move forward and hoping for the best.
