Everyone is beholden to American law.
Aye, that seems more and more to be the theory. Awful to think about, imo.
BTW, the only actual crime Assange was ever "wanted" for was alleged sexual assault. And in both cases, there was consenting sex, but it was claimed he went "beyond the consent". Not sure what that means exactly, but there was some strange claim of lack of condom and potential STDs. I'm not a judge or in possession of all the facts of that case, but the timing for the allegations was so incredibly suspect, as it came at a time where the US government wanted to go after him over wikileaks and force him to reveal all his sources. Likewise, the suits went away, but were resurrected right after the 2015-2016 leaks, where again the US Government became hyper-focused on learning his sources.
Swedish politicians were open about their intentions to extradite Assange to the US if they got their hands on him. The entire scenario of Assange has been pretty severely fucked. And he's been conflated with Snowden so many times, I don't think people who claim he should receive capital punishment know what the fuck they're talking about.
