its an overpriced piece of shit, my samsung costs me like 18$/month and my wife's iphone costs 32$/month for like 6-12 more months.

i told her when she wanted to buy it, "dont ask me for help, i dont know shit about apple stuff, you'll have to google it". then she asked "how do i get the google search bar on the front page of my phone like i had on my samsung". check, fucking, mate, wife.

If you're living on less than 50k a year for a household, there's not a lot of opportunity to "just do better with your money". When I was in that income bracket I'd try to save and it would always get wiped out by an unexpected bill. Lord help me if I had kids during that time. I could never stay ahead for very long as it was. That's roughly the average household income in the United States too, so that's about half of the country.

Well, right now im in southern georgia getting about 30k a year and planning on moving to portland oregon soon, theres a lot of factors. You can get an apartment cheap around here and I budget my food super hard and dont eat out. But there are people that'll waste their paychecks [or welfare lets be real here] on stupid shit and spend the rest of the week blaming everyone but themselves, I know shits gonna get real when I move and that living will be more expensive but im ready for it. Also if you have kids when you're making what im making you are just asking to be poor thats not even in the conversation far as im concerned.
