Honest to God, what does this matter at any level whatsoever?

Yeah I'm really confused by what exactly someone should be offended or outraged here by?

I have a feeling it has something to do with accounting & tax ignorance.

There are far worse balance sheets with tremendous US domiciled debt. I am sure it's a matter of basis points which guides the ultimate choice.

It depends what industry you are in. They will give much more leeway to tech but real estate is pretty static and boring

The industry's Trump was in aren't ones that are going to get a lot of leeway for growth especially since he was an already firmly established business.

Becsuse it's been a fruitless goose chase for 4 years and anything to hold onto at this point to say "see we said so".

Anyone who opposes Trump still does and his die hard support still support.

It means nothing unless there's material fraud. It's just another headline that further exposed the bias rather than an article giving any amount of critical thought.

The conversation about taxation has gone on well before I entered into university, laws change, inequalities attempted to be reconciled, lawyers digest and attempt to implement other strategies. It's nothing new if that's the excuse as to why this is important.

Some nuggets:

Quote
- Donald J. Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency. In his first year in the White House, he paid another $750.

- He had paid no income taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years — largely because he reported losing much more money than he made.

- Also hanging over him is a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of a $72.9 million tax refund that he claimed, and received, after declaring huge losses. An adverse ruling could cost him more than $100 million.

- Nor do they reveal any previously unreported connections to Russia.

- In fact, those public filings offer a distorted picture of his financial state, since they simply report revenue, not profit. In 2018, for example, Mr. Trump announced in his disclosure that he had made at least $434.9 million. The tax records deliver a very different portrait of his bottom line: $47.4 million in losses.

- His revenue from “The Apprentice” and from licensing deals is drying up, and several years ago he sold nearly all the stocks that now might have helped him plug holes in his struggling properties. The tax audit looms. And within the next four years, more than $300 million in loans — obligations for which he is personally responsible — will come due.

- He reported paying taxes, in turn, on a number of his overseas ventures. In 2017, the president’s $750 contribution to the operations of the U.S. government was dwarfed by the $15,598 he or his companies paid in Panama, the $145,400 in India and the $156,824 in the Philippines.

I paid more this year than Trump has paid in 10 years.

good you should pay all your excess money in taxes. each according to his needs per your deity marx and you dont need all of that money

love that as President, Trump donates his salary and isn’t allowed to be involved in Trump Organization, then privileged lefty people complain he doesnt pay enough raw $ in taxes

guess the 2005 tax thing where Maddow confirmed he paid like what close to $38 million on taxes and a higher % then all our politicians doesnt count anymore

too many lefties in our country concerned with other people’s money, not a new revelation

You haven't said why it matters yet unless you concluded there's material fraud and somehow you have information the IRS doesn't.

I don’t get the apologists

Why does this seem unreasonable? He has already claimed that the tax system can be manipulated, implying he also has financially gained the system.

The proper apologist defense should be that it was legal
