Well done Trump. Way to cut down the middle and make something that needed to happen just happen. I appreciate this.

Nobody got what they wanted and that's how arbitration works. Congress should have got it done and American's shouldn't be punished because of their ineptitude, even if they voted for them.

Go fuck yourself you stinking faggot. If Americans don't suffer, who the fuck will hold Congress accountable? How can you support naked power grabs like this? Why even have elections for Congress if this is your attitude. Go OD on heroin you rust belt piece of garbage.

Big and alarming precedent if it is left to stand. Which it probably wont. I assume that this move will achieve its goal and put the gun on Congress to agree on a bill that contains similar provisions like these EOs. Once this similar bill is passed by Congress, Trump can withdraw the EOs or they can be struck down in court without the one challenging them committing political suicide.

At the end of the day, Trump forced things to get moving, and that's a good thing. The means are questionable, but that's not gonna bother too many people. "Desperate times call for desperate measures."

Trump could have been a leadership presence from the beginning instead of resorting to these methods.

If Trump had been at the table and actively bought and negotiated to get something passed before this I would be more inclined to agree with the desperate times interpretation

Agreed in principle. In practice, the farther Trump stays away from these negotiations, the higher their likelihood of success. He's a toxic presence for anything requiring careful diplomacy and sucks ass in this type of negotiations. Him getting involved in them would be to their detriment.

Giving the negotiators a shot across the bow and urging them to get their shit together is pretty much the only way he could have influenced things in a positive way here.

It’s like I wanted the end result just not the BS that comes from doing this via EO Also pretty sure he’s doing this just for vote grabs and finger pointing later.
Trump has turned the entire R party into defending big government socialist programs. The 3% would of retreated back to Bundy if a D president EVER EVEN THOUGHT of doing this.

I vaguely remember Trump campaigning by denouncing Obama's EO's and saying what American needed was a good negotiator who could get a deal passed in congress, obviating the need for overreach. Now you can argue that this move is a negotiating tactic in and of itself, designed to pressure congress to act. And I can argue that a pragmatic executive who is willing to take unilateral action when congress is fails is better than a stringent libertarian who would let the house burn down before he let the feds put out the fire. And all this definitely contrasts with Obama's DACA / Iran / Title IX / etc authoritarian approaches and even contrasts with Trump's border wall EO- because unlike all those instances, this is an actual response to an imminent crisis rather than setting general domestic policy, what the executive is intended to do.

The fact is, Trump shouldn't have to do this. Congress shouldn't have fumbled this one, Democrats deserve ire for their pork loaded proposals and wishlists, Republicans deserve ire for stalling and not even proposing anything until the eleventh hour.
I don't mind a little executive overreach when its necessary and measured. Trump responded to the clock running out without a legislative option and gave us scaled back, more reasonable benefits. He didn't just conjure new permanent legal status for 3 million illegal aliens or whatever

Beat Congress over the head with a big stick. They either act or consent to the power grab. They need to act and now it is in their rational self-interest to do so.

Those checks need to keep coming. Governments are telling people they have to stay in and can't send their kids to school, they need to keep the checks rolling to keep people in their homes.

McConnell and Pelosi fucked up.

"Paycheck to paycheck Americans should lose their homes so they vote against their respective incumbants."

How noble.

This is on the GOP Senate. The Democrats are united and the Republicans have no plan because McConnell can't get his house in order.

There will be a reckoning one way or another.

Edit: There are ways to prevent people from losing their homes through deferred and/or reduced payments. Don't act like this is necessary.

Doubt it. America was stupid enough to elect Donald Trump. They aren't gonna hold Republicans accountable for shit.
