I personally think that an all-white ticket would be considered tone-deaf by many in the Democratic coalition in this particular moment in history, with the George Floyd protests roiling the country and calls for having a "day of reckoning on race relations in the U.S." louder than ever.

You are right, however, that Whitmer might be appealing to those very Trump-wary white suburban soccer moms.
