One good reason not to move to Texas is if you dont like hot weather. Or deserts and prairie.

the heat is dry in most areas. you just try to avoid being outside for extended periods during the afternoon

swamps with high humidity are way worse all hours of the day

Salt Lake City was one of the coolest cities I've visited. Very beautiful, but so is the whole state of Utah.
