She should be praised for losing weight. Elevated BMI and obesity are associated with significant adverse health outcomes. Though the potential implication of praising weight loss is quite clear, I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing: reasonable social standards and social pressures are an important part of a well-functioning society.

I agree, i do not support bullying but we should definitely promote health and fitness and praise those who improve their health.

In a patriarchic society where a woman has almost no chance of (significantly) moving up the social ladder based on her own work and career, her material standard of living (and thus the safety and life prospects of her offspring) are largely determined by the status/"quality" of her spouse. And looks/attractiveness were, and btw still are, by far the largest contributing factor for a woman to successfully hook up with such a high-status male. You will almost never find a fat or ugly woman on board of a private yacht or on the passenger seat of a luxury car.

We're no longer living in a closedly patriarchic society anymore and women have more life options and career choices available to them, but for attracting high status males, a certain threshold of good looks is still an indispensable minimum requirement. I dont buy the idea that women only put on makeup, wear heels, work out etc just to compete with each other and impress their female peers - ultimately, it still is about their competition for the best males.


Similarly, men being competitive with their buddies and coworkers also comes down to their struggle for achieving a high status and the pull with women that comes with it.

Nah, there's been several studies that all show that men's ratings of women's looks doesn't change much with makeup, heels, etc.

There's a minimum level of "looking good" you can do, but beyond that you aren't improving your chances with the opposite sex. The same goes with men and a minimum level of physical fitness. Anything beyond basic physical fitness doesn't increase your rating by women. However, what does increase your rating is your income.
