Preventing our destruction at the hands of the Japanese and Germans is not the same as keeping markets open in an inconsequential southeast asian country.

We as a country FEEL like we did the right thing in WW2. Not so much Vietnam, less so etc. Iraq etc. I think if you can decipher clear danger vs country building it's easy to see the when the US should get involved with military force.
I think typically progressive people will be more willing to use military for defense not so much to fund Haliburton.

WW2 was a result of the Great Depresseion which FDR failed to handle.

Eisenhower was the only one man enough to clean up FDR's mess and end the war.
