those who don't are naive imo. sure, most western european governments are not quite as bad and corrupt as the american government and its handlers, but that doesn't make them good or moral actors - and more importantly, even with exclusively good intentions in mind (which already is a foolish assumption imo), we have to be careful to open doors that could be used by bad actors / private interest down the road, people we don't even have a clue now who could gain access.
If there's no weak and incompetent populists and if the political class is properly renewed i have not a big issue if they trace my movements for several months.
Macron's party replaced 2/3 of whole legislative chamber here.
On the other hand we have to understand that US has a factorized power concentration due its size and no renewal of their political class, at least not a quick one.
On the top of this you can add individualistic culture, religious disorder, allowed corruption...Since centuries now. U.S people have many reason to just say "NO".
