Basically my attitude as well. I dont see the point in aggressively sacrificing free time to earn more while I'm young and enjoying my life just so I can have an excess of free time when I'm old. It's all about the balance.
I'm doing fine, earning enough to pay all my bills and have a decent chunk left to put to the side each month while also working towards further qualifications and enjoying a healthy amount of free time. Got a 6-figure sum in the bank account/portfolio anyway, so I have something to fall back on if things go south for whatever reason.

Since I'm sceptical of ever wanting kids and have no siblings or nephews/nieces, any money left in my bank account when I die will be "wasted". I've seen multiple persons who worked hard all their life, built up big savings and pension claims, only for them to die from a heart attack at age 55, or be diagnosed with cancer at 61 and die at 62 or shit like that. Particularly when it comes to the pension claims, these people who died shortly before retirement age are duped.

At least at the moment, I'd rather earn 58k € per year working 40h/week than 100k € working 70h/week.

Its also important to look after yourself, eat healthy and go to the gym etc. So you can last longer. I'd rethink the idea of kids though, they're not bad.

Having kids comes with a metric fuckton of sacrifice and change. And I'm not ready for most of the ways in which your life changes when you have kids. Also, I'd need to find the right girl to have kids with, which isnt trivial either. Finding a brief hookup or some girl for a couple of months up to a few years of fun is not that difficult. Finding one for a trusting relationship where I'd be confident that it lasts for 18+ stressful years? That's really difficult and rare.

From what I see with my sister's kids it's definitely worth it, though you do have to accept that the kids will become like 95% of your focus in life. But you get a lot of love back. I'm pretty happy with my relationship, though I'd ideally want to wait with kids until my gf is done with her studies and has a stable job. Luckily as a man there's no alarm clock for having kids ^_^

See, and that's exactly the point. I'm definitely not ready for that right now, and very sceptical that I would ever want that.
But you're absolutely right, thank god I dont have a ticking biological clock as a guy. :D

You might not, but the women do which means you will have to date progressively younger women. Good luck finding a good mother and partner in the age of hook up culture, instant gratification and narcissism. Seeing the people I mentor have to deal with college girls nowadays, ergh, would not want to do it.

working until i die.

my only "plan", is a somewhat early death due to heart complications and a few poor life choices.
a hospital cannot prevent death, only prolong it. so i am not much interested in what they have to offer.

this is basically the reason i sleep 5 hours a night. i get home and still garden, play D2, work with my chickens, play disc golf, etc. and i dont have many layaround type days, on weekends im always planning and doing something be it a trip somewhere or house renovations.

also, like Thor said, i get most of my "social time" in while working lol. i can do my job while posting on d2jsp literally all day.

i try, both subconsciously and consciously im sure, to emulate my grandfather. who ran a farm full time, while also running a gun store, while also running a skeet range on weekends, while also being a boat saleman, while also doing part time security guard work and working as a reserve deputy for the Sherrif's dept, oh and teaching hunters and boaters safety courses. the man was an animal, but as soon as he "retired" and only had the gun store you could see it was the work that kept him chipper. now that we've closed the store he's down to only teaching hunter's safety courses and u can tell he's not happy about all of the downtime.

What is it that you do for work?

Accumulate enough to have the option of retirement open by 50-60 if you want but personally I’ll likely be working until day I die

If your job is what you really prefers to do. Maybe you can be active doing something else ?
