It's an absolute shit show. If anyone speaks out against the protesters (who disrupt normal life and make it nearly impossible to get a train/plane/bus/go about your normal life) the protesters heckle or even loot/raid/destroy facilities of anyone who speaks out. It's absolutely far worse than any action they condemn from the Chinese government.
The protesters speak out against tyranny but are actually more tyrannical than that which they are protesting.
In fact, the mainland army has not interfered except to go help clean up mess in peacekeeping and humanitarian fashion.
The Hong Kong government is run by a corrupt oligarchy backed by organized crime, both completely under the thumb of one of the most tyrannical states the world's ever seen, so that would be sort of rich.
I feel bad for the average Chinese citizen; uneducated, and reduced to grovelling to a hereditary aristocracy that controls nearly every aspect of their life.
