You would have to point to murders that are actually motivated by their Christian identity to make this comparison. You will not find many now.

Islam has an incredible problem with religious violence. If this were any other religion the same things would be said.

Its hyperbolic, but its basically one extreme pushing back on another.

One denies real criticism by pointing out its extremist committing violence.

One points at the religion itself as the sole driving factor.

They both use "Islam is a religion of peace" as short hand.
