well yes and no.
there are some in the DNC field that dont have deportation on the docket for non-violent illegal immigrants. meaning that in theory someone could cross illegally, get caught, get given the equivalent of a parking ticket, and released into the US either with a greencard or some pathway to citizenship.
for all intents and purposes that's an open border. as logically no one is mad enough to stand up for a literal open border. like unguarded, etc. it's as unguarded as is politically possible.
and only about half or so wanted full coverage for illegal immigrants from what i remember of the first debate. but there's high connectivity between the two, the same candidates are calling for both (warren, bernie, beto, castro).
as a side note, how can u have something be a deportation offense but not detain them? like find them and instantly stuff them into a cannon to fire across the border?
