So you think the NYT fabricated this?

What do you guys think the odds are of this being a real op-ed or a troll/hoax/otherwise fake?
There are competing factors to boost/hamper the credibility. For one, there's the long record of hoaxes/fakes. But we also know that some staffers in the white house have absolutely been engaged in nefarious schemes- the senate intelligence staffer banging the NYTimes presstitute for example. Its likely he's not alone. There's the element of fairly unimportant staffers / functionaries who could present themselves as 'senior administration officials', like that very guy, but not really be anyone consequential. And in the white house, there should be no shortage of them. Then there's the mindgame aspect, where they'd have motive to run such a fake story just to get clicks and try to get Trump to be paranoid.

When the NYT quotes an anonymous source making sensationalist claims, that doesn't tell us much if its real or not. But putting a guess to it? I'd say most likely scenario is LARP'ing secretary/staffer, not anyone actual important official, a member of the shallow state not muh deep state

they better have every i dotted and t crossed or it goes right into the fake news narrative

if the white house really is in the chaos we so often hear about it's about to get amplified over this one. I'd assume it's only a matter of time before this person gets exposed and outed

If this op-ed is true, i'd tend to agree.

Hope whoever wrote that op-ed reconsiders evoking the 25th.

I'll throw out a prediction

media has their fun

Trump people and general conservative types blow it off

person is outed and it's someone high enough to not be actual fake news but rand enough to successfully be sold as that by Trump and the following and is fired/resigns and written off as a bad egg

nothing really changes in the immediate future but does continue to fire up the left and beat down the right for the midterms

It's been known for a long while that Trump has people in his inner circle actively working to stop his worst impulses, and mitigate people trying to manipulate him.

In particular he is incapable of critically analyzing information so his staffers have to carefully monitor what comes across his desk for fear he gets false or difficult to comprehend information thrown at him that he can't snuff out himself.
