Its pretty insane they got out at all considering the crime. Lack of evidence so far is troubling as well.

Dumbass people threatening the judge is ridiculous though.

I'll reiterate something I've said a few times before when people have got hysterical over a ruling they don't like -
The integrity of the legal process is of far greater import than any individual case. Whether for jaywalking or the most heinous crimes imaginable that legal process must be followed exactly. Unfortunate as it may be to let one serial killer or child molester go free it is far worse to allow the legal system to be corrupted by our desire to see them incarcerated. If a case is thrown out then fault must be found with those actually responsible. In this case that looks to be either the police or prosecutors who did not bring sufficient evidence to the hearing. Not to the judge who is simply upholding the letter of the law.

Also it seems there are some who simply believe the defendants were engaged in 'a failed attempt to live off grid'. I haven't done enough research on this case to know if that is a reasonable suspicion but if it is that would only further the case for bail.
These people have ankle bracelets and $20,000 bail is not easy for someone living 'off grid' to raise.
I doubt there'd be this much hysteria if the defendants were white Christians and not black Muslims. In fact I seem to remember the Nauglers a few years back were charged with criminal neglect and had accusations of child molestation against them and nobody batted an eye when they were released on bail.

death row is pretty expensive, the powers that be would rather just imprison them forever.

what's the difference, legally, between that and any number of "caught red handed" cases that still get trials?

trials, for the legally ignorant morons of the world, aren't simply for assessing guilt. they're also used to lay out the facts of the case so the sentence for a guilty party can fit the crime, adjusted for mitigating and aggravating circumstances.
