NK would commit to denuclearization and to giving its citizens rights slowly in exchange for US protection.

Do I think this will ever happen? Not really

Reunification of the Korea's is the only path to improving the livelihoods of the people in the north. Only problem is that is a path to losing power for Kim so doubt it will happen. Emtpy platitudes on denuclearization is the most I'd expect.

Realistically what does a successful summit look like?

We know the Trump cultists here and in the media will declare it a success regardless of what happens. Apparently Kim and Trump will be meeting with just their translators for a couple hours... that's troubling. You have to wonder what would happen if Trump agrees to something in that meeting, but then backtracks on it because he doesn't fully understand these issues.

I'm hopeful that after these meetings there's good will shown on both sides and a commitment to continue serious talks. This is the biggest moment of Trump's presidency so far.

Success would be they both understand they have tiny peckers, and form a common bond.

regardless of what happens i can guarantee that the cultists on pard will claim trump handled it perfectly and whatever 'deal' he makes is better than the iran deal was.

It goes both ways. No matter happens, eveyone knows what your reaction will be.

I would have expected some more advisors to be present for the summit, as it could have helped achieve more from a single meeting. Hopefully this is just the beginning of the dialogue that leads to reunification in Korea, and a more stable leadership and rights in N. Korea.

NK got the bomb and ICBMs, doing comparison between now and before (previous presidencies) is just another sign of trumpism illness...

Nk is winning its international recognition, and did not get it with a small loan of a million dollar....

If you think the media is biased whatsoever in Trump's favor you're deranged. The vast majority of media outlets will claim Trump's meeting with Kim to be a huge failure, regardless of the outcome.

All I know is that in 40+ years, neither Bush, Clinton, or Obama were able to get as far as Trump already has with North Korea.

You are aware that nobody can take what you say seriously when you're from a country where the put you in jail for saying the words "Islam" and "bad" in the same sentence?

hard to not be better than the absolute inactivity of previous administrations, they are the ones that led to this point

True assessment. Trump is 100% guaranteed to do better than Obama

Clearly you haven't read a book, or even a Wikipedia page on North Korea.

I didn't say that... maybe read again.

Trump has done a good job bringing major powers together to sanction North Korea.... but he hasn't gotten farther than any other president. We've had agreements made in the past that didn't end up working out... so the same thing could play out.

well, considering that emperor bonespur and all his cultists labeled the iran deal, which effectively halted iran's nuclear weapons program, the 'worst deal in history', the least we can expect from 'the best deal maker in history' is a complete and permanent denuclearisation, and significant improvements concerning nk's human rights violations and living standard of the nk population.

given spanky's negotiating prowess and flawless record on the world stage, i wouldn't be surprised if we saw kim just throwing in the towel and agreeing to a reunification of the peninsula under democratic rule and leadership, but maybe trump can postpone that to get a second nobel peace price later. 4d chess anyone?

seriously though, for now i'm happy with anything that's objectively better than the 'terrible' iran deal. should be easy enough for him...

Completely different geopolitical ramifications.

Iran got something for nothing, if Trump extracts anything he's already ahead of Kerry.
