The entire story of Russian interference in the election has been known since the day the wikileaks emails went live, and its never really changed

Its a very simple plotline. Hillary was in a row with Obama while SoS and constantly being a thorn in his side and struggling for power and influence before falling completely out of Obama's sphere after she led him into Libya. She instigated a needless diplomatic spat with Russia by antagonizing Putin over his 2011 elections, accusing him of rigging his elections. This was a major diplomatic transgression, because US-Russian relations in the post-cold war have been delineated as respecting mutually sovereignty and spheres of influence with squabbling for influence around the borders, never directly nosing into each others internal affairs. Hillary however was a hawk seeking to stir up trouble and drag Obama into it. She directly meddled in Russia's affairs, accusing Putin of rigging his elections- which of course he actually did, she's just not supposed to directly accuse him- and also she funded dissident groups inside Russia to stir up domestic troubles with propaganda. Putin was outraged and denounced everything publicly, but rather than directly retaliating against the US in general, he stood down. Obama and Biden then both gave neutral statements that congratulated Russia on completing the election without praising Putin, very careful not to be offensive. And Putin let it be. Despite all the history of US-Russian tit-for-tat retaliation, Putin did nothing against the US or Obama administration

Then years later, when Hillary was running for president, Putin got his poetic revenge. The ruskies hacked the DNC emails and distributed them, exposing the fact that Hillary was herself rigging her primary. In one fell swoop, Putin exposed Hillary's hypocrisy, retaliated against her in specific in a calculated and measured response, and did so in the most deliciously ironic way possible by mirroring everything she had done to him.

None of it had anything to do with Trump. Putin like everyone else in the world assumed Hillary was going to win, and even that slap across her face wouldn't have swung the election in his wildest dreams.

And we've known all that all along. Even Hillary herself has openly acknowledged it:

With all my respect, you own congress has an official investigation running about it, there was hearings, and alot of embarassment from facebook, google, twitter ... more than hundred Millions of people saw ads promoting absolutely everything going in the trump rhetoric way, while in the same time theres posts specifically attacking Hillary Clinton

I don't think you understand. Putin wanted to personally embarrass Clinton in direct retaliation for her previous diplomatic transgressions in a tit-for-tat exchange with her election interference
Putin didn't have a goal of actually getting rid of Clinton because nobody actually thought that was possible. His plan was to fire a shot across her bow before she got into office.
