don't they also administer lethal injections for the death penalty?

Lethal injection is incredibly painful. The first shot is a sedative so they don't scream and flop around.

i thought it was pretty explicit that that was the trigger which is also what i'm judging her on as i don't know what other issues she's got going underneath but it's clear she had issues

whatever issues you have, killing yourself is rarely the answer and you have a duty to yourself and those that raised you and those that depend on you to seek help

You need to do a bit of research into depression.

afaik it goes distress/trauma->anxiety->depression

depression as a mental health issue is a first world problem experienced by an entitled, whiny group of people that do not realize how good they have it

the very things that cause depression (biological susceptibilities aside) happen to everyone but most of us suck it up and deal with it instead of seeking treatments by a medical industry pandering to peoples imaginary illnesses

-edit, i'm aware that the fact that it can lead to suicide means it's not a trivial matter but i'm just having a reaaaal hard time understanding what people are depressed about to the point that they'd take their own lives when they've got it so damn good

Usually depression does not have a focus. You are simply depressed.

there's no correlation between living in the first world and depression

well, that's easy to arrange, you'll just need to tamper with your brain in a way that'll leave you unable to feel anything positive at all

What about people who are depressed because they have such a bad life? Such as the dozens of people who commit suicide every hour in India?

This is just blatantly wrong, depression is a physiologically-based diagnosable neurological condition that requires treatment just as any other disease does.

to reiterate my lack of sympathy is for those that have it good yet turn to depression/suicide with no appreciation for the good things they have in life over less fortunate people who continue with their lives despite terrible living conditions

and coincidentally the suicide rates in india also line up with this

However, the study - published in the Lancet medical journal on Friday - says suicide rates are highest in the 15-29 age group, peaking in southern regions that are considered richer and more developed with better education, social welfare and health care.

this mirrors studies in the west which also show higher rates of suicide with higher levels of income - exception being unemployed folks who are at much higher risk
