150,000 years of humanity killing each other for any advantage in life whatsoever, 200 years of a very unstable and storied democracy and it's time to hand over all the power to the government. What a shallow and pathetic mindset.

Rather than start a new gun thread, I just thought I'd post this here instead: http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-gun-crimes-pew-report-20130507,0,3022693.story

So while most of us conservatives who're already aware of what Dr John Lott's More Guns, Less Crime tells us, it appears that most Democrat constituencies (as noted in the article as "Women, people of color and the elderly were more likely to believe that gun crime was up than men, younger adults or white people.") are painfully ignorant that the gun control bills they continue to push aren't even necessary. So there you have it, polling that shows the public is ignorant of the facts of the matter, yet their politicians continue to push their agendas (hello JayKwik, where's your math now?).

Doesn't have anything to do with guns and more to do with what the right wing considers the atrocity that is legalized abortion. If Republicans had their way we would be swimming in guns and unwanted children at their crime-prime taking advantage of the NRA funded lax guns-for-everyone laws.

as true as this may be, most gun regulation should be managed at the state level and not the federal (the previous 3 only proposed putting gun laws in place at the state level)

It is partially due to guns, as Dr Lott proved in his papers. There is certainly a link between abortion and falling crime, but there's also a link between removing lead from gasoline and falling crime. There isn't a single driving factor. Regardless, my point stands. Liberals in general are painfully unaware that crime, and notably gun crime has fallen sharply and they continue to push gun control legislation.
