Was in high school gym class when first I heard. Classes continued. Every class all day we just watched news coverage. Very strange to see how differently everyone reacted. A completely surreal day. Salute the fallen.

8th grade, science class. Was a really awkward silence, then the teacher brought in a radio. Just listened to it all class. 3rd period, math, was much the same. I think we got out of school early that day? Not positive

9/11 is as much as symbol of America's potential to over-react as anything else. I agree with post #2.

Thank you.

Yes, I am an American. People did die, but it's nothing like Africa and the middle east.

...let's see if I can help you grasp it a little better .

Over 200 people jumped to their certain deaths rather than suffer the horror of being burned alive but before the media decided to exhibit a little respect we got to watch them jumping and 343 NYC firefighters died because they chose to walk toward the danger instead of run away from  it .

You minimize the horror and dishonor the sacrifice of these brave men and women when you try to compare this national tragedy to any other event no matter the cost . By your reasoning we need not concern ourselves with any other disaster since so many people died of the black plague .

I never said we shouldn't concern ourselves with it. I was meaning it is miniscule compared to horrors that happen every day that we pay no mind to. I know there is a genocide in Africa where rape is used as a terror weapon and I don't bat an eye. A thousands of people die all over the globe from preventable diseases which put them in more pain than the 9/11 victims burning to death. It seems hypocritical to care about 9/11 but not care about the others. I don't mean to cheapen what happened on 9/11, but you cheapen genocides and rape by caring so much about it.

I've never seen a thread posted about the genocides in Darfur, and even if they do exist they are dwarfed by the amount of 9/11 posts even you yourself make.

...feel free to start the thread of your choice about genocide and starvation but projecting your lack of care and concern on anyone else is incredibly malicious . The people and organizations I associate with in real life are greatly concerned and doing something about it .

Cool story bro. How much money have you given to Darfur this year? Or was it just prayers?
