The hygiene hypothesis is pretty interesting and I agree with a lot of it, since I'm from a somewhat large family living on a farm and we like to think we're better than other people because of our environment, but I couldn't find anything directly linking it and obesity. The HH seems to be mostly about allergies, asthma, and autism.
HH deals with type I diabetes(it is afterall a form of autoimmune disease) and lab mice. When injected with parasitic worms showed a significant reduction in cases of type I diabetes. Most of the research is in it's infancy but what has been done looks pretty promising. Not to say fatties aren't at a higher risk.
