Presumably you don't have kids. I might not have cared at one time. As a parent you are in competition with a slew of the dumbest things on a daily basis. While good parenting can ensure little attention or exposure is given, I can't imagine its as easy as our parents time was with us. The influencers of our time, especially ones trying to cater to a younger audience, are primarily dipshits and now have the ability to reach out to massive audiences, our time as a kid that was never possible.
The result, I definitely hold a class act in higher regard probably than I ever have. Before it was just normal mannerisms. Now it's, wow there's someone who remembers how to act properly.
So when considering the person in the most powerful position on earth, yes it matters to me. Is it something that would actually outweigh the individuals take on policy that shapes the country or world, no.
What's better though, being fake and nice or being real and kind of mean but also funny?
I'll take reality any day. I don't want to see who you think I want you to be, that's disgusting. I'm not myself a child, I expect honesty.
If your kids are watching influencers on the internet, you are fucking up.
Most kids read when I was young. Very few read now. Your child can still be one of those few. You are in control of their present and are therefore responsible for their future.
