They decided zero because ITS UNWANTED, what part is your brain not grasping?
Again, the jury instructions were to determine the actual value the child would bring to the parents life, removed from it being unwanted. That's the point. The jury was required to find the emotional costs, the burden, the interruption and offset it by the benefits of having a child.
I really don't see how you're hung up on this. Its the entire crux of the case:
Quote
The Szlachtowskis say Minnesota Urology should be on the hook for a slew of damages related to the birth, including physical pain, emotional distress, lost economic opportunities and the cost of raising the child.
The case will ask jurors to weigh some of those damages against whatever they determine is the monetary value parents derive throughout their life from the joy of raising a child.
That was the very essence of the determination. The pregnancy being a result of a mistake and unwanted is why there is a liability for pain, distress and opportunity, and the burden of the costs to raise the child. Yet the offsetting cost is the benefit of having a baby and raising him or her.
They determined this child's life is worthless and provides no benefit to the parents.
