Well the alternative to a tax is a cultural taboo. In largely every other place but America and the West you'll get relentlessly shamed for being fat, which is more effective than any tax

A lot of countries in Africa, Middle East and Polynesia consider being overweight attractive. I don’t think it’s considered attractive per say In the US I just think our woke system creates a safe space for it.

The US has tons of programs designed for losing weight people just don’t want to.

We should do an incentive program. Once a year at your annual check up if you aren’t considered Obese by BMI you get a 500-1000 claim towards your taxes or something.

No they don't, in some places it's considered a sign of great wealth, the wealth is what is desired not the fatness. Fat people are, unfortunately, largely impotent or infertile which is the antithesis of attractive.

It's very simple, eat less and move more, there is no program that incentivizes this. In our system, it's *always* a sacrifice, no one pays you to eat less and move more. You have small subsidies for the YMCA, that's it. Weak. Absolutely agreed that there needs to be a financial incentive, a bonus for being healthy off your taxes.

Fat people are making babies left and right. Probably more so than people that are in shape. Hince the term Dad Bod or Mom Bod to make people feel better about themselves.

The name Tarou Sakamoto once instilled fear in every villain. No other professional hitman matched his prowess, and fellow assassins revered him. However, Sakamoto fell in love. In five short years, he married, became a father, put on some weight, and traded his weapons for an apron as he became the owner of a humble convenience store.

I swear I read somewhere that 34% of all women in the USA had pre-pregnancy obesity. And this only includes obesity NOT overweight…..

https://www.childstats.gov/americaschildren/obesity.asp#:~:text=People%20of%20Hispanic%20origin%20may,%2DHispanic%20(13%25)%20women.

I was wrong it’s 32% I bet it’s over 50%(it’s technically 48% after checking which is still an insane number) if you include overweight. I bet it’s gone up since 2022 as the obesity rate in the US has never really went down much to my knowledge.

Obesity and Overweight are NOT the same thing according to BMI.

According to GOO 43% of all women in the US are considered “obese”. These are staggering numbers if you consider nearly 50% of all the women having children in the US are technically fat. Eventually the US will go the way of Tonga and American Samoa and have nothing but large overweight people.

Or just tax people proportionately for being fat

It's not sugar or unhealthy foods that causes obesity, it's overreating, which is the sin of gluttony. Sin must be disincentivized in society, either through the law or through taxation.

Food shouldn't be taxed at all.

Ingredients in our food are engineered to be addictive, so yes, unhealthy foods absolutely cause obesity. HFCS is directly linked to a legion of adverse health conditions, including obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

Instead of paying more bureaucrats to manage a new tax.

How about we get rid of the food pyramid and educate people on real healthy dietary practices.
