no one with an iq over lukewarm ever expected all of the illegal migrants to be deported. that was a liberal talking point fear mongering over shortages for crop pickers.

normal people realize if we can deport criminals and overstayed visas, while stemming the inflow, it will be a huge win. then we can keep crop pickers and roofers but deport them if they commit crimes.

We just need to keep trimming away. We also need to get tighter on entry. I’m honestly ok with “shoot to kill” orders at the border. If they know it’s a possibility they will slow down on the attempts.

technically they all broke the US immigration law thus are criminals.

correct, they're all criminals. tom homan the border czar laid it out repeatedly and clearly. the directive straight from trump is to seek out criminals who broke laws not related to their entry into the US. but if during this process any people are discovered who's only crime is illegal entry they'll also be deported. this was specifically a call on sanctuary city mayors to cooperate so that ICE doesnt have to hunt them down and deport more collateral people.

phase 1 as they stated was to find criminals, then seek out overstayed visas and people who skipped their date for immigration court. thats literal years of work before they start to do ice raids on "normal" illegals.

to be fair many of them didnt, at least during the biden regime. they were simply let in. many of them from there committed the crime of working tho, as none were permitted to work until after their asylum case.

I suppose that is true. Working illegally is a serious crime, being a nominal asylee who was permitted entry via a port of entry even if on false pretenses is a lesser crime if even one. It's a triage operation though, the worst get deported first
