While it will be interesting if something develops, I don't think Cliff High's predictions are going to be the way by which we experience disclosure.

If extraterrestrial life exists and is smart, they will wipe out all of humanity. We deserve it.

Takes a lot of effort and investment to wipe out a species. Even if it was say, full bombardment from space, the question is: Why?

Humans may be petty, cruel, and violent as hell, but we're planet-bound. Why would any extraterrestrial wish to get involved at all?

Unless it's the whole "Independence Day" or "Cowboys & Aliens" type thing, where there's something here they want that they can't get elsewhere, I don't buy it.

And even the independence day thing, AND Cowboys and Aliens thing, is stupid. All evidence points to a huge amount of the "rocks" that make up the rings of Saturn being made of ice, as well as every rare earth metal (such as gold) being included as well.

Overall, it seems like outside of possibly our atmosphere itself, there's very little any spacefaring species would be interested in, when it comes to our little backwoods planet, or her people. :)

I was mostly joking.

The argument would be less about plundering earth's resources and more about nipping a potential threat in the bud. I have very little doubt that humanity will reach the point where we can begin settling planets outside of the solar system within the next 400-500 years, which is just a blink of an eye on a cosmic timescale.

[x] Doubt

Total (nuclear) war that sets us back a thousand years seems more likely than us settling or even reaching other solar systems in the next 400-500 years. Star Trek was a dream. The realities point a far different direction.

New York Times reporting now on the expansive drone incursions happening in the US and the UK:

Quote
People across the state have reported seeing scores of large, low-flying objects in recent weeks. Officials haven’t said where they’re coming from, or why they’re here. Drone sightings have been reported in at least 10 New Jersey counties since mid-November. They have been spotted flying over important infrastructure, like reservoirs, power lines and railroads, in people’s backyards and above highways. They often fly in groups and emit a loud humming noise that Mr. Dunbar, 39, described as similar to the sounds made by electric cars. The drones appear to be significantly larger than those widely available to hobbyists.

The sightings have prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to temporarily ban drones from flying over a military base in Morris County and a golf club owned and frequented by President-elect Donald J. Trump. On Nov. 26, drones flying near a landing zone prevented a medical helicopter from picking up a person injured in a car crash in Somerset County, according to NJ.com.

State leaders and elected officials have said the drones do not pose any threat to the public. But they have yet to provide any information about who might be operating them, or why.
