But only idiots believed Donald trump was the reason why the Covid situation was so bad. Forgive me for believing there were more rational people in America vs absolute fucking retards…

So to correct myself, those of us who are not complete retards thought Donald trump was going to win in 2020, due to how unfathomable it was that the majority of voters were dumb enough to fall for the media machine’s bullshit.

smart people never underestimate the common person, who is an absolute idiot.

lots of voters tho weren't even fooled by covid media bullshit, they just had enough of the trump show. like or hate his politics trump had an effect on their lives many distasted, he made politics a part of their daily lives whether they liked it or not. water cooler sports talk changed to trump talk. thanksgiving dinner was a political debate. the nightly news was half trump. facebook was all trump. etc. he made politics inescapable. most people want their politics just like Olympic events, a short burst every 4 years then you want to forget pole vaulting even exists.

If that's the case why is Trump still popular and potentially win another term

An american journalist or politician will prefer to talk about bathrooms, gay cakes, or holsters instead of healthcare, lobbies, or campaign funding control.

Freedom overload may be the reason.

we're talking about approx 25% of voters, the people who decide any election.

they might vote democrat, they might vote republican, they might not vote at all. but they're the group who decides who wins.

these people aren't who trump is popular with, he has like 35% of all voters locked down. so does Biden or whomever the DNC runs. party line voters who vote every election and always the same color. beep boop beep boop.

but in the context of your question if you felt tired of the trump show in 2020, so u voted biden, that was 4 years ago. inflation was lower and seemed very temporary from the global supply chain issues. the border was locked down compared to now. war hadn't yet broken out in ukraine or israel. etc. Time can change what you are willing to put up with. in 2016 a lot of swing voters voted trump because of the state of the world, the same may be true in 2024, in a way it wasnt in 2020.

True, that.

Those real-world issues affect people and are more important than liking or not liking a "Trump show".

Feels like you just undermined your previous post but whatever

well, not really. in 2020 life was fine. the pandemic changed everything.

look at what Trump highlighted in 2016, democrat fueled outsourced labor and the border in crisis. and it worked. russia and the US were posturing in syria also.

in 2020 the border was locked up and trump promised jobs were coming back, stock market at all time highs. so it felt safer to vote biden. the world was at peace mostly too.

in 2024 the border is a mess, jobs are in jeopardy, inflation is insane, wars are all here, etc.

each swing vote is subject to the context of it's time, 2020 felt like a safer time to vote for preference. 2024 feels like voting for policy is more important.

who is responsible is far less important than what is happening and who is in office.

if the person in office is there when things are going generally ok, they're safe.

trump was inbetween terms and it was a shitty time, so he was out. biden is inbetween terms and its shitty, so he may be out.

Yes you right, finally I am the one who did the mistake to see it that way.

Like you say U.S democrats are not linked with inflation, which was already "pointed out" by medias few months before the covid pandemic.

inflation isnt really a policy implication of either democrats or republicans specifically. both overspend, both have bad tax policy, both oversee bad fed policy, neither wants a gold standard. just money printer go brrrr for both sides of the aisle.
