Its "i dont need no man/woman, i like my independence" mindset gone wild. shocker to no one with a brain nuclear family connection made up most human interaction for people all across the globe. even with all of the technology, working from home, etc if people just had nuclear families they wouldnt report themselves as lonely.
The part that worries me is that very young people are experiencing this too.
I remember when I was in college, a role model told me to savor the time. He reasoned that we'd never get another chance to be around friends all-day in such a close proximity.
Now we're seeing children who aren't capitalizing on that.
Hard to say why for sure, although I'm sure cellphones and vidya games are a culprit. For college students, I'm thinking a slow economy is a major factor too. It's impossible to maintain friendships past 20 if you don't have excess income.
