They haven't really taken anything, the government imported them en masse to fill employment vacancies largely brought about by their covid policies and the need to have constant "economic growth". I don't need to work for minimum wage so it doesn't affect me in terms of employment but I think it's going to have negative affects on our culture and is exploitative of the people being imported.

To all Canadians: what we need is the People's Party of Canada: https://www.peoplespartyofcanada.ca/

The only party that is standing up against mass immigration.

They have a lot of great policies IMO, haven't seen any I disagree with yet which is really rare for me. Don't think it is possible for them to win because the Cons will monopolize most of their possible voters but would love to see if they could implement the policies they talk about. Can even put aside my extreme dislike of french guys :D

I have been donating to their party steadily for the past 2 years or so. Yeah you're right, they compete for the conservative votes. But I really think that the conservatives are just watered down liberals, they are not a true opposition party anymore. My hope is that more people will see this.

Yeah the conservatives are garbage IMO, big vice principle energy in most of them. As much as I think Trudeau needs to be fired for his incompetence I don't think Polelover will be any better and those seem like the only two options. I don't think the people's party has a chance simply because their platform would clash with US interests which means their opponents will always have more funding and coverage. I think there is value in voting for them regardless though, just as a protest vote if nothing else.

Nah, Nova Scotia, which makes it even stranger because nobody comes here for work lol. Far as I can tell the government shifts them around the country to fill in employment gaps by baiting them with PR (permanent residence) points

Not sure what the situation in southern Ontario is but they aren't overlords here, they work the worst jobs and live like 5 people to a 1 bedroom apartment before getting moved to another part of the country because their job suddenly doesn't count towards PR or the amount of points received changes. I've heard Ontario has more issues with foreign property ownership so the situation may be a bit different.

Most annoying aspect to me is the amount of people who just....stand around now. It's weird af lol.

My rent in NS while going to school used to be so cheap. Now I look at kajiji and have no idea how people make it. Maratimers are the most transient people in Canada for a reason. Minimal opportunity, horrible tax brackets, high gst, high cost of nearly everything except rural housing and even now prices in say the Valley is bonkers.

The housing situation is the worst I've ever seen it. We literally had homeless encampments all throughout downtown in Halifax and in many of the public parks. The demand for apartments is so high that renters get spammed within minutes of posting ads so they are extremely picky as well. Feel bad for anyone trying to find a place now.

And yeah young people usually gtfo as soon as possible, very little opportunity and all the other lovely features you mentioned. I could deal with those things because I've always loved the small town charm but that is practically gone now and the decades of government incompetence has really stacked up. Current government has made some positive improvements to be fair though, Healthcare was an absolute nightmare before they were elected.

Don't think I'll ever move back, I have a cottage south shore ways that I'll keep for summer and fall visits but I think the norm now is to not return and once boomers start dropping off I suspect the maratimes will see a population decline.
