Interesting, Elite. Can I ask you what you do right now?
I always knew you had training in science, but I didn't know you had an MSc. You must be really smart.
Sure, I'm an analytical chemist and I specialize in mass spectrometry-related technologies and applications, it's not the craziest work but it's nice and easy if you have a great attention to detail and are careful.
I'm definitely well above average and was the top student in undergrad, some of my friends did think I was a chemistry genius, and my brother is a legit mathematical genius ($400K+ compensation writing algorithms) so atleast some is genetic. But I'm subpar when it comes to some other obligations. Nowadays I don't care too much for science but instead focus my mind on my athletic pursuits.
But coming back to the questions of whether true geniuses are born or made - I confidently believe it's a combination. True greatness is only achieved when one is both born highly intelligent and also puts in the necessary work. Someone can be decently successful if they're very smart with a shifty work ethic, or if they're dumb but have a great work ethic, but they will never be great.
