Regarding your op
Widespread immigration of refugees beyond what infrastructure can handle is always going to be a problem. It cannot be just one country stepping up. Europe has certainly taken the brunt of the Middle East refugee burden
I can’t speak for Canada, but in the US I can guarantee you major cities are increasingly less capable to pickup the refugee burden. I specifically am using the word refugee and not “Muslim” or “Mexican”. You can change the decade but there is always going to be hate for refugees, until they become normalized in culture.
Take my family for example. My grandpa came from India with my Pakistani grandma. Both Muslim. They came in the early 80s. Mom was born and raised in England, who met my Muslim father there and he himself came in the 80s. At the end of the day, the majority of people just want a better life for their family. That’s what the west offered them, and by consequence offered their children (me), and now my half German daughters.
To your point, there isn’t room for fanaticism and religion is fine as long as you aren’t cramping on the rights of others, which is the secularist policy America offers.
Regarding the job situation:
US is Doing fine, for now. Look at the other thread for Canadian economy, there are certainly issues developing in Canada, but blaming the declining gdp and job market on refugees isn’t really accurate. The major losses are at mid socioeconomic spectrum not the entry level, of which there are still jobs available. But as soon as the US job market takes a decline, undoubtedly fox will blame the refugees. Recessions and booms are natural in economies, and always will be.
