I know that a lot of Americans are resistant to the idea of socialized medicine. I am not saying they are wrong, but since my country has such a system in place and it seems to work, I really don't understand why Americans don't even want to try and test it on a small scale to see whether it might work for them too.

And on Obamacare, there seems to be a huge divide, and this divide lies along party lines. Seems that a lot of right-wingers are against it and Dem-voting/left-wingers are for it. Or is it the other way around? Anyway share why you like or dislike the Obamacare.

Oh and how you think you would solve the problem of a large swath of people not being able to afford reasonable health care.

lost faith in the medical system i dont care what they call themselves :)

I remember having the choice to take “free” government programs or be penalized on my taxes for not accepting “free” shit.

Obamacare. Free shit healthcare for those who need it, and an Obama phone!!! If you don’t want it, you will pay cash.

Large majority of americans want the same than in EU countries but they will not get it

- Their government is unable to lower drugs/treatment prices.
- Obama forced it but it was logically too expensive.

You talking about $400 penalty for non-coverage which was never enforced was my understanding? Almost had to pay that myself. Was in my healthy prime between jobs and it was pay $2k/no for Cobra pay..... or pay $400 penalty at end of year. No brainer choice there.

Cobra supposed to be a way to keep coverage when socialized employer coverage gone after leaving a job. It ends up gutting your bank account in a few months. Your premium usually triples

Don’t recollect the exact number but yes, there was a yearly penalty for not being covered.

the biggest criticism is govt corruption, but even knowing the horrid landscape of washington its hard to imagine a more corrupt system than current modern healthcare.

prescription drugs may be the greatest scam in the history of the world. Bernie Madoff was honest Abe compared to the absolute racket going on between pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies. the fact that they're allowed to enfoce gag clauses on pharmacists is in itself absurd, but when they apply them to situations where they rake in 75% of the cash exchanged it should be criminal.

Another thing that has always annoyed me, e-statements and online clinic health portals. Great example of technology taking the customer backwards at great expense. Snail mail is slow, but consumer gets information more directly rather than vague emails nagging you to login to a goofy proprietary client portal or insurance claims portal. Now your doctor and provider can message into a black void and feign customer service rather than pickup a phone and directly contact you like a human adult.
