Western powers are broke from their assistance to Ukraine - Russia is taking advantage of this

The US cannot continue to afford their unipolar global empire - much like late-stage Rome, they just don't have the resources to maintain their foreign territory any longer

You can almost see a parallel to Ukrainian nationalists who supported NATO overlords to supplant their Russian overlords.
Nigeriens have plenty of reason to hate the west and France in particular

no one needs a reason to hate the french beyond the fact they're from france.

The US really has to relinquish some of their foreign control & build back their own economy and domestic production capabilities. The US has been under assault by internal enemies for decades and decades now and the results are finally showing themselves on the global stage. It's just death by a thousand cuts and having their (and ours here in Canada) resources drained trying to maintain these foreign holdings

Seems like Russia is the one gaining the advantage and the US is losing influence.

I see this as being ultimately good for Russia, US and China and bad for EU, particularly bad for France.

France cannot intervene directly as they just denounced foreign interventions in Ukraine (by Russia) and ECOWAS will probably not intervene without France leading the charge. They are not organized enough from what I read to be able to coordinate a successful invasion to restore the previous guy in power. Maybe time will prove me wrong.

1) US gets EU further destabilized by reducing French influence in Africa, partcularly supply of Uranium France needs for EDF to power their nukes as well as reduction of gold flows to French coffers that destabilizes CFA franc initiative and hopefully paves way for an united pan-african currency akin to what Qadaffi was proposing. France still has strategic supply of Uranium to power nukes for years to come and they are still buying Russian nuclear fuel, however they will need to figure out new sources if Niger refused to sell them fuel going forward.

2) Russia gets to play proxy wars (if they were involved directly or indirectly via PMCs like Wagner) and win over nation states that provide votes in UN GA (although I understand UN GA doesn't ultimately matter so long as UN SC exists) as well as winning general influence in Africa

3) China stays in the background and have long since filled the vaccum left by the short-sighted EU/US policies who abandoned Africa after the fall of USSR and the end of Cold War. Majority of infrastructure projects in Africa are financed and built using Chinese labour / money / influence and it seems the momentum is massively in favor of Chinese who continue to exploit african resources to fuel their technological progress (eg complete domination of Chinese EV sector over laggards in EU and US).

All eyes on Nigerians now as they seem to be the big rising political power in Africa and they just recently successfully brokered an end to Tigray war in 2022 that has taken away millions of lives.

If the people of Niger desire to kick out the evil Western neocolonialists and replace them with the renowned good samaritans from Wagner, then so be it. They'll regret their choice soon enough. ^_^

Regarding Uranium: France receives around 15% of its Uranian from Niger. That's a gap that other allies in the region (e.g. CAR) should be able to fill if they ramp up their production. France can imho cope with this particular domino falling - but it puts their back to the wall, strategically-speaking... if further dominoes threaten to fall (like the aforementioned CAR), they would now have no other choice than to intervene.

CAR is also Wagner country.

It’s astounding how fast France is taking L’s in Africa. At current rate they will fade as one of the great old powers and basically be viewed as another Spain or Italy in terms of influence and say.
