the no kids people hit the first wave of regret at the same time, all of their friends are busy with kids and dont have time for them. they try to fill the hole with vacations and hobbies but it never really fixes it. then one day they're 60-70 and they're the cool aunt/uncle who's lucky to get a visit a few times a year. then later they are in a nursing home they're paying for with a reverse mortgage and have no one to even bother calling them.

What you are doing is projecting popular opinion as ultimate truth.

To elucidate statistically if you have regret that will translate to being unhappy later in life. Generally speaking if you don't have family around when you are over 60 or 70 it likely you will be lonelier it's basically gives you another reason to wake up every day.
So if you don't have any plans for old age or are a peasant start making babies now in hopes they take care of your crusty ass in the future.
