The issue isnt the president's son, its the president. He took millions in bribes on behalf of corrupt foreign interests that got us into a war. Hunter could be thrown under a bus instead of the slap on the wrist he got, it wouldn't matter to anyone but Hunter. And now there's enough verifiable evidence and a money trail that Joe Biden can't just pin it all on Hunter anymore. Whats he supposed to deflect, that Hunter was lying about him being involved, Hunter was lying to his own family about Joe taking half his bribe money, that Joe just tripped and fell and landed dickfirst into $5 million funneled to him through a shell game of fake bank accounts?

Joe Biden is going to be impeached on this. He may even be removed, but that would only happen if cynical elements of the party felt Kamala or whoever had a stronger ticket in 2024, and if Republicans wait long enough to maximize election impact, he definitely won't quit or be forced out.
