Basically what we are seeing here is the erosion of women's rights in the united states. this move was a natural follow on from the supreme court ruling some months ago, wherein this move was alluded to at the time.

BS. Women have the right to close their legs, any time they want.
The percentage of rape related pregnancies is so tiny as to be able to be taken on a case by case basis.

All this RvW crap is just people want to do w/e they want and disregard the consequences.

The "life" part doesn't really matter. When the fetus knows it exists is the crucial time. When it feels "I" for the first time.
And no one really knows exactly when that is. So until we do...

What was your first memory? Mine involves a plastic red car and a little ladder next to my bed.

Non sequitur.
Has nothing to do with when a fetus "knows" it exists.

You fail to see the point. I didn’t know I existed until I was a toddler. When did you find out you were a sentient being? Was it terrifying living in the dark, wet womb of your mother?

There's a universe of time between when we know we exist in relation to the world, and when we first think... "I".
NOT admitting the truth of that, is what has gotten us to discussions like this.

The lack of our ability to remember the instant we thought "I", doesn't mean it didn't happen until we remember our toddler-ness.

We define murder as killing a sentient creature. Unless you KNOW (110%) when sentience begins, you can just go around snuffing the life out of things, until you're sure.
You need to err on the side of caution, because you DO know (for a fact), that these fetus' do become sentient at some point.

science says that's about age 18 months out of the womb.

The fact is the abortion pill, or the choice to take it, has empowered and liberated women all over the world, for decades, to do whatever they wanted with their own body. Who are you, or I, to tell someone else what they can and cant do with their body? Its the same beat down on women for centuries all over the world, on what they can and cant do, and what they are expected to do i.e. "don't talk, don't drive, don't be successful, don't engage in politics's, don't be equally paid, don't defend yourself, don't have an abortion, don't be an authority, don't have power etc".

Its all about power and who has control. Women's rights have come a long way in the last 100-200 years and it is so surprising for the rest of the world that the land of the free is morphing into the land of the not so free. To be clear, I have reservations on abortion, but I trust my daughter for her to make her own mind up and do what she wants to do, with her body. The idea that there are no consequences for someone that has an abortion is quite naive and uninformed.

Also, I dont understand why you use sentience as the dividing line. If I were defending a "no abortion ever" position in a debate I would be outlining that once the deed is done, the natural conclusion is that, all things going well, that a healthy child will appear 9 months later, and therefore it is irrelevant when the embryo/child is self-aware, but rather that through human intervention you are ending a life before that life is born.

There are alot of parallels with this and with prohibition - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prohibition_in_the_United_States

podcast I listen to had a guest on that essentially said that drug has plenty of studies that prove it's efficacy, but I suppose it's a joke to even assume that is what its really about lol
