Whether or not Trump should have gotten involved in politics or not is beside the point. If you're a Saud, you probably shouldn't get involved in politics at all, but that doesn't excuse Saudi Arabia of being a police state.
What we have is an infraction which normally results in a fine, which Bragg is trying to contort into several dozen felonies based on the politics of the accused.

trump got involved in politics and as a result allegedly broke the law. if he didnt get involved in politics he not only wouldnt have allegedly committed these crimes, but likely also could have committed similar crimes without detection. i mean for decades he hired contractors and shortchanged or refused payment, then used his wealth to drag out the trials until they couldnt pay and just stopped. ivanka had a china made shoe company that just straight up ripped off trademarked designer shoes, no one would have noticed if he didnt run for potus.
i could say the treatment of HRC is besides the point, its blatant whataboutism afterall, but i agree that anyone of Trump's peers who committed related offenses should also be charged and fined/jailed. we've got far too much corruption in politics in the entire nation to refuse to tackle some of it because we aren't tackling all of it.
