Political corruption in general is as worse as it gets. We could certainly be more politically corrupt than we are now.
Personally, I'm very uncomfortable with obstruction charges when I don't understand the underlying crime. Is there a legitimate violation of the Espionage Act? Are they charging him under the Presidential Records Act? What necessitated a criminal investigation?
I'm having trouble understanding how you and others have trouble understanding what an underlying crime might be here.
Did you not see the picture of several top secret documents at Trump's house? Some were even in his office desk. Trump is no longer president, he's not allowed to take these documents home on his last day at work. Even if they weren't classified, he wouldn't be allowed. But many were classified, up to an extremely classified level.
Furthermore, the obstruction case, even the one we just know from public disclosure, which ignores whatever information DOJ had which prompted the search warrant, is damning. His lawyer testified any documents marked classified were gone, and there were many documents marked classified which were still there.
So, why do you and others who like the smell of Trump's musk have to pretend this is confusing? It's about as simple as it gets. I feel like I'm arguing with complete lunatics as to why this kind of behavior is bad.
Here's an article talking about the statutes that were in the search warrant:
